Final Draft 2 Compete

After reviewing my final video for draft 2 I decided that I needed to edit some of it so that it makes more sense. I have finished editing the video and am pleased with the outcome the principle behind why I did my draft 2 the way I did (refer to previous post "Draft 2 Final Cut"). Here is my Complete Draft 2:

Draft 2 Final Cut

After looking at all my work I decided to stick with the stop motion and after some long hours of organizing the pictures so they will show up in the correct sequence I am finally happy with the outcome. I used traffic sounds for the sound and after listening to it I realized I needed it to be faster. I wanted to symbolize how the youth of today drive and how much they don't want to listen to the street signs and just want to race. The street signs tell us to drive safe and slow down so I made the signs move slower then the sounds. I wanted the sounds to be as if its the youth driving by really fast as the signs move slower at more of a normal pace.
So after some speeding up and tempo change I got the slower moving traffic sounds to be more that of a race car. A good example of this is people not wanting to slow down for construction workers when they see the "Road Work Ahead". It's like we're all just racing through life ignoring all the signs telling us to slow down and enjoy the world around us. Here is my final cut:

Sound Rough Cut

So I think I am going to go with my pictures that I shot of the signs and use stop motion to create my video. I am noticing that stop motion takes an extremely long time to finish and is very tedious work. I added some sounds of traffic and speed it up making it sound more like race cars then street cars. I did this on purpose because I look at the street signs and see how many we have to obey yet most young drivers most of the time just want to race around ignoring all of these signs. Here it is my sound rough cut.

Below is not my sound rough cut it is just extra clips I went through to figure out what I wanted to use for my rough cuts.

Here are some of the other clips I put together of the signs. They are clips of the signs by themselves with using stop motion I made their own clips. I wanted to see what it would be like having the signs flip through one after another. The first clip above (one with the screen shot) is my main sound rough cut since its the only one with sound. The clips below don't have any sound.

No Dumping
Stop Sign
Stop Ahead
No Parking Anytime
Road Work Ahead

Silent Rough Cut Sketch

Here is my rough cut from my video. After walking around I was not sure if I wanted to take pictures of the signs of record them as video's. So this rough cut is a video attempt at capturing the signs. I am unsure as to if I want to continue with the video's or use the stop motion and just take pictures; but anyways here it is.

Production Strategy

I am going to try to make a video of street signs and get as many shots of all different types of them. I want to use the area close to my Drift 1 sound walk area because I am thinking of mixing unique traffic sounds to work with the shots of the street signs.

My two strategies are:
  • Take pictures/video of the whole street sign(s)
  • Take close up pictures/video of street signs
I will try to get to streets that do not have heavy traffic to I can get unique recordings of traffic. Since we don't have to have any kind of algorithms for getting the video for drift 2 I will walk about my neighborhood taking pictures of all the street signs that I can find. I am unsure if I want to use stop motion or actual videos of the signs.

Drift map #2

Here is where I plan on walking to get my new sounds and my pictures/video for my Drift 2. I choose to use the same area for my second drift because I think I can get a lot of other sounds that I missed from my first drift.
